Blue Mountains Grammar School is a co-educational, Christian day school in the Anglican tradition that works in partnership with parents of students from Pre-Kindergarten to the Higher School Certificate to grow exceptional young people of hope, purpose and courage.  The School Counsellor works collaboratively with staff to enhance the wellbeing and mental health of students, and is a vital member of the Wellbeing Team, providing advice and professional expertise.The PositionThe School will employ the School Counsellor on the following basis:Permanent, Full Time or Part Time (days and hours negotiable);School Term time plus staff professional development days as advised;Classified as Wellbeing Service Staff under the Independent Schools (Support and Operational Staff) MEA 2017;Salary dependent upon qualifications. Key ResponsibilitiesIn both the Junior School and Senior School the School Counsellor is expected to:Provide short-term counselling, diagnostic and referral services to students at the request of the relevant Head of School or their delegate;Design and implement individual and/or group work programs for students experiencing social/emotional/behavioural difficulties;Provide a consultancy/educational service to staff with regard to the social/emotional/behavioural wellbeing of students, including engagement with external professional advice;Support and encourage parents in their family role and discuss issues of concern to them;Contribute to the ongoing development of a whole-School wellbeing program;Report regularly to both Heads of School or their delegates, maintaining appropriate records;Attend staff, sectional and other meetings as advised. Privacy Guidelines Employment Collection NoticeIn applying for this position, the applicant will be providing Blue Mountains Grammar School with personal information.The School will collect the information in order to assess the application for employment and may keep this information on file if your application is unsuccessful in case another position becomes available.The School's Privacy Policy contains details of how the applicant may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles or how the applicant may seek access to personal information collected about them.
